There are a variety of different types of wine, which you should definitely be aware of if you are not already, so that when you do go to make a selection of wine you will be informed and knowledgeable and will be able to make an intelligent ¨C and the right ¨C decision.

Types of Wine

When it comes to the different types of wine that are available, there are so many that it seems almost endless. Of all the plentiful types of wine available there are a few in particular that are considered as being most important.

Barbera

Barbera is a highly adaptable type of grape that is grown mostly in Italy¡¯s Piedmont region, and the Barbera wines tend to have a lively cherry flavor about them and as well a good acidity.

Cabernet Sauvigon

This is definitely one of the most well known types of wine. Arguably one of the best known grapes in the world, Cabernet Sauvignon has taken the wine industry by storm, especially in locations such as Italy. The grape is able to be grown almost anywhere, which makes it incredibly convenient, as regardless of where it is grown it will always still produce a fairly consistent and recognizable flavor.

Grenache

Another of the fan favorites, the Grenache is a grape used for wine that is planted exhaustively in Spain and which goes under the name Garnacha Tinta. It is a heat-loving grape which produces wine that is extremely high in alcohol and incredibly rich in spicy flavors of pepper, gingerbread and coffee, which is quite the unique combination.

Syrah

This is a large and juicy grape that is grown typically in the Rhone Valley, and which today has become one of the world¡¯s most popular international varieties. The Syrah wines enjoy great success in locales such as Australia, and the Syrah grape is currently going under an explosion of planting in places such as California.

There are many other types as well that you have to choose from, those discussed here are simply the most popular. Remember that the wine you should choose will depend on what type of food you are putting with it, or what type of mood you are trying to set.
