How to Use a Wine Opener

Wine is a beverage, which has the quality to enhance your dinning experience provided you pair it in concordance with the right meals, ingredients and spices. There are a few factors that will help to know in order to enjoy at its fullest the wine that you have picked.

Wine Opener

Many of us don¡¯t pay attention to this very important detail of opening the bottle of wine, which if done wrong can end up damaging the whole content. The wine opener plays the main part in removing the cork, however the technique helps greatly.

Depending on how passionate you are about wine you can invest in a professional wine opener or get one available in department stores; both will do the job if you apply the right technique, which is as follows:

The first step to opening a wine bottle is to remove the top of the capsule that covers its neck; then, wipe the mouth clean. Remember some of these bottles are stored for a number of years before it is put up for sale.

Insert the wine opener screw exactly in the middle of the cork; this should be achieved with one firm push in order not to make several holes in the cork.

Turn the wine opener all the way down until you have penetrated the entire cork or the majority of the cork.

Prop the wine opener lever on the mouth of the bottle and lift it gradually yet firmly. Do not pull at the cork as you may break it.

There are minimum effort wine openers which can be found in stores and they do the extracting of the cork for you however, opening the wine bottle becomes quite a ceremony for the wine enthusiasts.

Once the bottle is open, if you are drinking a red wine it is suggested to let it breathe for a while. Breathing of the wine is referred to when the wine is allowed to get in touch with air. This process releases the aromas, which are also known as the bouquet of the wine, and therefore, offers you its best qualities.

Some argue that only certain, older wines should be let to breathe but even the fact is even the youngest of red wines will taste better after you give it a few minutes to release its bouquet.

The appreciation of wine is acquired only through practice (that is a lot of wine tasting) and time.

Now approved by the doctor as well there is nothing to hold one back from enjoying a glass of wine to add to the enhancement of your meal. Beware, wine lovers are known for ordering the wine first when in a restaurant and then pick the food to match the wine.
